CMYK
In 2025, our Annual Members Exhibition was hosted at Tangent Gallery. CMYK turned its focus to printmaking — not only as a technique, but as a method of exchange and experimentation, rooted in repetition.
The title CMYK refers to the four foundational colours of printing — Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black) — and serves as both a literal and conceptual starting point for the exhibition. Through screen printing, etching, linocut, and experimental techniques, the exhibition explored how printmaking continues to intersect with a wide range of contemporary practices in new and unexpected ways — from painting and performance to textiles, installation, and digital media. Tangent Gallery, run by Studio at 17 — a longstanding collective supporting artists with lived experience of long-term mental ill health — provided a meaningful setting for the show. Studio at 17 has supported artists for over 30 years, and is home to a vibrant creative community, including Leicester graffiti icon Paul Dexter aka Caper. The intimate space, next door to an active artist studio, offered a unique context for work that reflects both process and shared creative experience.
The exhibition featured works by James Chantry, Pamela Clarkson Kwami, Emma Constantine, Tayler Fisher, Sheila Ghelani, Mae Hickling, Joshua Jones, Pasha Kincaid, Beth Lukockyj, Issie Martin, Andrew North, Becca Ogden, Adetunji Onigbanjo, Lisa Pickford, David John Scarborough, Holly Sykes, Nenagh Watson and Sally Wilson.
