 Expanding
 ambition

In 2025, we will open the doors to a new public arts venue on Aumberry Gap in Loughborough, near Pinfold Gate. After seven years at Carillon Court Shopping Centre, Modern Painters, New Decorators will leave the current location in the autumn. The project was started in 2017 by artists and makers with a connection to the town.

An exciting opportunity has come up for Modern Painters, New Decorators to relocate and expand. The new arts venue will include a public gallery and learning space, artist studios, community kitchen and pop-up cafe.

‘Build It Here’ is an eight-month programme of events, talks and workshops to co-produce the new space with artists, young people, families and community groups. This will run alongside fundraising activities to secure £40K to fit out the venue. Work is due to begin in September 2024 at the 195 SQM site, which was built as part of the Luxurio Student Accommodation redevelopment, located on the ground floor and with street access via the entrance on Aumberry Gap.
The building will open to the public in February 2025 with a programme of free exhibitions, creative workshops, celebration events, open studios, craft markets and coffee mornings. Modern Painters, New Decorators will continue to work in partnership with community groups such as Art Club, which works with young people, the local school Limehurst Academy and the charity Love4Life. The Modern Painters, New Decorators programme at Carillon Court ends on Saturday 19th October 2024, with an exhibition by Loughborough artist Tayler Fisher.
